“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, is as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
I Peter 5:8-9
A big part of the battle is knowing we are in a battle. When one is in battle, they will have a plan and within that plan they make preparations for the attacks that will be sure to come.The devil would like nothing better than to steal our joy, take our peace and mar our testimony as we walk on the path of righteousness. He wants to divide, destroy, disrupt and deceive and the quicker we recognize this, we will be quick to resist him. Peter instructs us in verse nine to, “Resist steadfast in the faith.” Our example in this discipline is the Lord Jesus Christ found in Matthew 4:1-11. When He was tempted by the devil, He used a mighty sword (Gods word) and allowed it to fight the battle. He did not argue He simply said, “It is written.” There is strength in numbers and when we remember we are not alone in this battle, we will be strengthened as we think of our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the globe who are in the same fight.
