I John 4:19
I have written several times that before I was saved I was not familiar with hymns. Sure, I had heard “Amazing Grace,” but the words never spoke to me it was the melody. I had no real connection to the hymn. I am blessed over and over again by the hymns. There is something about hearing the voices of the redeemed joining together in unison and singing that which is rich in doctrine and beautiful in melody. There have been times when tears of joy and gratitude have filled my eyes while singing.
I would like to challenge you to step inside our verse. Really grab a hold of the powerful truth of the verse. Chew on it. Meditate on it and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. I have included the lyrics to one of my favorite hymns “My Jesus, I Love Thee.” If you choose to step inside our verse take the time also to go over the hymn below. I believe you will soon find yourself in the middle of a glory fit.
My Jesus, I Love Thee
1. My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine, For Thee all the
follies of sin I resign; My gracious Redeemer, my
Saviour art Thou; If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
2. I love Thee, because Thou hast first loved me, And purchased my
pardon on Calvary’s tree; I love Thee for wearing the
thorns on Thy brow; If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
3. I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death, And praise Thee as
long as Thou lendest me breath; And say when the death-dew lies
cold on my brow, If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
4. In mansions of glory and endless delight, I’ll ever adore
Thee in heaven so bright; I’ll sing with the glittering
Crown on my brow, If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
