Acts 16:16-17
The Lord has given me many opportunities to preach and minister to many folks at nursing homes. One particular woman stands out. This lady could not speak, but she was able to understand what was being said to her and could communicate with a nod of her head. She was a true joy to be around. I would stop by and take a message to her and her dear friend who also was a resident at the nursing home. One early Sunday afternoon after I had preached that morning the three of us were gathering for our time together when I asked her if she would like to know how she could be saved and she nodded her head yes. I took her through the scriptures pausing from time to time to ask her if she understood and she would nod her head Yes.
When I had finished with God’s plan of salvation, I asked her if she would like to put her faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour and she quickly nodded her head yes. Her friend began to cry tears of utter joy and I fought back my own tears. I told her that I was going to lead her in a prayer and for her to communicate from her heart to God the best way that could that she wanted to be saved (“FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED” Romans 10:13.) With our heads bowed I led that dear lady in a prayer that she communicated to God with her heart and that day in that nursing home “The way of Salvation” was taken. There was a celebration in heaven that day for the saving of my dear friend’s soul. I will never forget as I was shutting the door behind me, the sweet sound that came from that room; it was a high pitch sound that she let out, it had halleluiah written all over it.
The lost world needs to know the way of salvation and as believers we know the way. Let’s be ready, willing and sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit towards the lost souls that God brings across our paths today.
