Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:16
In some cultures they dip a dart or arrow into poison. The expert marksman are able to place the arrow or dart in the exact location on the intended target. As the dart hits the intended target the poison from the dart travels through the blood stream disabling the target.
Our enemy works much in the same way. Too often we don’t use that which Almighty God has made available to us and for us. We set aside or very rarely if at all take heed to the words and warning from the Word of God. The enemy dips his dart in the poison of discouragement. He dips his dart in the poison of doubt and we have lazily laid our shield aside and find ourselves exposed in battle and the dart from the enemy hits its intended target and spiritually speaking it makes its way through our blood stream. Doubt begins to overtake us as the dart releases its poison- we find ourselves at odds with who we are in Christ Jesus. Discouragement begins to fog our thinking and we begin to believe the lies of the father of lies. We are on the run when we should be standing strong in Christ Jesus.
Our verse says, “Above all, taking the shield of faith” now that tell us that God is wanting us to listen and apply so that we will know and have victory in the spiritual battle that we are in. Take up the Armour that has been provided by the Living God starting right now.
