Jeremiah 20:9
Jeremiah was God’s man who preached Gods message to God’s people. He was the weeping prophet who warned and warned and warned the people of Judah the coming judgment of God. The broken heart of Jeremiah reveals the heart of God for His people. Judgment without warning would show that God was not a God of grace and mercy. God is merciful but God is also a God of truth and justice and sin and disobedience must be dealt with.
Preaching Gods messages brought reproach and rebukes and made Jeremiah public enemy number one within his own people. They didn’t want to hear what this man of God had to say. As a believer you may never know the extent of the reproach that Jeremiah endured. Yet when you stand for God’s Word you will know persecution. You may say as Jeremiah said, “I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name.” The battle around you might be great, but if you choose not to speak the truth, the fire within you will be greater. That is a wondrous and glorious thing. Amen and Amen! We need to live Holy Spirit filled lives and allow the Spirit to stoke such a fire in each and every one of us. O to have a fire that cannot be held in our hearts. A burning fire fueled by the Word of God and lit by the Holy Spirit.
This is aimed not only toward men but also toward the ladies; the young people and teens who read this. Remember Jeremiah is speaking to God’s people. There may come a time when you will have to speak to a brother or sister in Christ who has erred by turning away from God. Such a task can be tough but it must be done. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. Your approach and words will be Christ like and the one who you are sent to will be better off for it.
