1 Peter 1:13-16
The flame of revival will burn in the heart and life of the individual who chooses to consecrate (devote) themselves to the Lord. Revival will begin in a church, in a county, in a city and in a country, when an individual purposes to be holy in the strength of the Holy Spirit and the Power of God and His word. I tell you when the born again believer hungers and thirsts for the things of God more than their want for the world the flesh and sin, revival will have its start.
Verse fourteen is a continuation of the instruction given in verse thirteen, “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance.” The believer should not live their lives conformed to the sinful ways of their life before salvation. Our behavior and conduct should reflect a child of God. As a born again believer, we are “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4) and so we are to be holy. Our aim should be to be as much like Christ as we can be. We will never be sinless but our burning desire should be to live holy for our God is holy. We cannot call and hope for revival and live like the devil. God will not bless what He does not approve.
Where do you find yourself at this very moment and what condition is your heart in? Is there unconfessed sin in your life? Are you living in open disobedience to God’s Word? Are you saved but you have backslidden from your Lord? 1 John 1:9 is your starting point. I pray that God meets with you and that your desire would be to be the one God could use in a powerful way wherever you are.
