For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. - Philemon 1:7
What a great testimony, "The bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee." When the hearts of the saints are comforted by another brother or sister in Christ that kind of news will travel fast. God will be glorified and the saints will be edified. I have met folks who have the not so great gift of chasing the life and light right out of a room. They are a hindrance and not a help to the saints. We need to be a blessing and comforter in these perilous times we are living in. It does not bode well for those in the body of Christ to be a hindrance and to appear to live hopelessly from day to day. We need to remind the redeemed of our blessed hope, "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13.) We need to be quick to refresh the memories and thus the hearts of the redeemed with the promise that God has given us in His Word, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrews 13:8.) Our Lord and Saviour is not fickle or frail He is steady and strong and does not change with the wind of circumstance. The body needs to be built not broken apart with un-scriptural hopelessness. We have much to give in Christ Jesus.
If you were to draw your last breath at this very moment what would be the testimony of the saints when it comes to the impact you made within the body of Christ in the time God gave you? Would they be able to echo the word's of Paul in his description of Philemon or would it be words that would bring shame to the Saviour. Let's live Holy Spirit filled lives and allow the precious fruit of the Spirit, ("Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance") to move mightily and miraculously through us and into the lives of those around us.
