Luke 24:1-9
I'm afraid we don't celebrate the empty tomb enough. This blog is lengthy, but not long winded. I pray that you take the time to exalt and extol the Lord Jesus every day. I pray that there is a genuine gratitude for the Cross of Christ and for the empty tomb and because of such powerful truth your gratitude springs forth continually.
It’s been said, “The Resurrection is God’s “Amen!” to Christ’s statement, “It is finished.” The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation which Christianity is built upon. If there was no resurrection; no empty tomb; no rising from the grave- we would have no hope. The Apostle Paul wrote, “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain” (1 Corinthians 15:14). I have some wonderful truths I want to lay on your heart pertaining to the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I. The Proof of the Resurrection
A. Jesus foretold His resurrection:
“And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, Behold we go up to Jerusalem: and the Son of Man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death. And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.” Matthew 20:17-19
B. Jesus Showed His self:
“And that he was seen of Ce’-phas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that he was seen of James; then all the apostles.” I Corinthians 15:5-7
II. The Power of the Resurrection
A. It is Supernatural Power:
In reference to His life the Lord Jesus said, “I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10:17b-18
It is the power of God that emptied that tomb and raised the Lord Jesus back to life!
B. It is Shared Power:
When one comes to Christ for salvation His death is your death –His burial is your burial-His Resurrection is your resurrection and His power is shared and gives the victory over the grave and death. “O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15:55-56).
Every day should be the day we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. We praise Him for such power and for His amazing grace toward mankind! HE IS RISEN.
