I have been saved for nearly twelve years and I am certain that is not nearly as long as some of you who visit this website and this blog. Before I was saved, I never gave any thought to this nation and how it began. I never gave any thought to God 's hand upon this nation and the many, upon many people God used in the shaping and forming of America. Now that I am saved, my heart aches for the soul of this nation. God has made it possible for me to go and to preach at many rural Baptist churches in and around southern Indiana. The many folks I have met have a burden that matches that of those from sea to shining sea. The heart break seems to be in the memories that many have of how this nation once had a reverence for God. I remember a dear elderly Saint who came down during the invitation after I had preached a message on the spiritual state of our nation. This precious lady longed for such days when God was feared and the Bible was near to the hearts and minds of many. She told me that what we needed to do was to return to the Lord. I know that may sound simple, but it was true that morning and it is still true at this very moment.
