The moral climate of our nation should not be surprising. When we look around and see that, “the sin that once slinked down the back alley now struts down Main Street.” I am afraid that we as Christians can become complacent or desensitized or perhaps jaded. If we are not careful the world can become as water rushing over a rock (we Christians being the rock) and before we know it we can be shaped by the world. We have a creek in our woods and over time the water that has made its way over those rocks has made its mark on those rocks. The rocks have been shaped by their surroundings.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. I John 2:15-17
The concern and the burden that has been laid upon my heart is the body of Christ and how we are living and the choices we are making. We aren’t living as strangers, but as kinsmen too often with the world. Are you making a mark for the cause of Christ in the specific time, with the special talents and the gifts that God has given you? Are you nurturing a deep and abiding relationship with the Lord Jesus? Are you running with the world or living for the Lord? One day all of the born again will give an account for our lives,"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:10.) Sobering words that should shake us when it comes to the lives we are living, and the choices we are making as children of the most High God.
Take stock of your life by examining yourself. David's prayer would be a powerful place to start,"Search me, O God,and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23-24.)
It is time to live for the One who paid the heavy and horrific price for the saving of our souls. Our time here is short let's make it count for God.
