Isaiah 26:3
In the middle of life’s storms where is the first place that you run to? Do you run to self and diligently tie yourself into knots as you ask yourself the question, “What am I going to do?” Is your first instinct to call, email or drive to a family member or friends home and seek counsel and direction. Before I was saved peace was as sand that slipped through my hands. Peace was elusive and a stranger to my life. Now as a child of the Most High God, peace is readily available, if I will trust the Lord (please take note of “if” and meditate on our aforementioned verse.) Like many, I bought books on the subject of peace, but they only served as a band aid on a compound fracture. I read a book titled, “The power of positive thinking.” It left me puzzled, powerless and scratching my head. True peace will never be found in the things of this world. Paul, led by the Holy Spirit rips back the veil and reveals the truth about the ring leader of this world, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12.) The devil could never bring peace he is the author of destruction and the father of lies. He is cunning in his devices. He has not dragged many to hell he has simply led them with sin as the bait blinding them to the soul saving and peace giving truth of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We can’t have peace while we are the enemies of God. The Bible says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). Only then can we have peace; peace that a bottle can never supply; peace that pleasure could never ever provide; peace that riches, wealth and notoriety could never supply. Friend you can fill in the blank with whatever vice, sin or plan that you can think of, but none of these things will provide the peace that one has in Christ Jesus. Peace is a pillow that only God can fluff.
"Peace was elusive and a stranger in my life. Now as a child of The Most High God, peace is readily available, if I will trust God."
I want you to know that if you are saved, that at the moment you were saved you had peace with God. Now you can have and know the peace of God, if you will trust Him. It is available now! We only need to turn to God’s word and trust. I’m asking you to get ahold of these two verses; not for a moment or for a season, but really let them take root in your heart, let them find a home upon your tongue and in doing so peace will flourish and fill your heart and mind. Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Please take to heart the Words in Philippians 4:6-7. Take it from me, one who had a PhD in worry and a minor in doubt and fear; we can trust God and live victoriously in the knowledge that we have peace with God, knowing that He offers His peace to His children. Come this hour to the Word of God and drink deep from the well of His truth. His promises will be as a cool drink, in a dry and thirsty land where no water is.
