Carving Out Time

A.W. Tozer wrote, “The man who would truly know God must give time to Him.” After I was saved I had heard a message preached about setting aside time for God. My life before the Lord gloriously and victoriously saved me had  been all about me. In the message the man preached about carving out the time to pray and to dig into the scriptures. I was working at a factory and we sometimes worked ten hour days. I carved time out for God by simply getting up earlier before I got into my day. I carved out time for God by taking my Bible to work and reading it in my truck while I was on my lunch break. I would write scripture on small pieces of paper and carry them with me taking them out from time to time and rolling them over my mind and washing them over and through my heart.

I want to encourage you to not allow this present world that we live in  to keep you or prevent you from the precious time you can have with the Lord. David wrote in Psalm sixty-three, "Early will I seek thee" and "My soul thirsteth for thee." We must be like David in the sense that he made a choice and his choice was fueled by a desire and the object of his desire was Almighty God. In Psalm 1:2 the psalmist exposes that which he delights in, "But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night"  A closeness with God will be the byproduct of time spent in His Word. It will be time well spent.
