“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14 With our little place we’ve been given in time- What is it we are doing with the place and the time that God has given us? Do we major in kingdom work or do we spend most of our lives being lured in by the world to those trappings that are both insignificant and unprofitable? Life is short, so we move forward by faith in the power that the Lord provides while walking in His works that he has ordained for us (Ephesians 2:10.) Make today count for Christ. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6 We live in a world where there are many choices thrown at us or presented to us each day. We, as Christians, have a choice to make each morning as we start our days. Will we hunger and thirst after righteousness or will we eat from the table of this world? Our verse says, “Blessed are they which do” so again, we have a choice to make. Those who choose righteousness will be filled. Those who chose God’s desire for their lives will be satisfied. The benefits of hungering and thirsting after righteousness far outweigh the junk food of the world’s table. What are some of the benefits? I. A closeness with God II. A closeness with God’s word III. A closeness with God’s people IV. Power in your prayers V. Power in your witness Dear Christian your spiritual health, strength and energy will depend upon what it is you are putting in your tank. A long distant runner would not live off of fried food, junk food or bottle after bottle of soda and expect to run and finish the race. Spiritually speaking we can’t live off the worlds table and be fit for this race we are running. We are carrying the banner of the Lord Jesus Christ as we run this race in the time we have been given. May we choose wisely and in doing so we will bring glory to God and be a light in a dark and lost world. A godly appetite will lead to a godly life for all to see. I felt led to repost this blog. I am praying that it will be a call and a challenge to the born again as you begin your day. Thanks for visiting, Bro. Tracy My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”-Proverbs 2:1-6 Isn’t it interesting the extremes that many will go to in pursuit of a goal or a dream? Many say, I am willing to do anything at any cost to achieve that which I have put my heart, mind and soul into. I am in no way saying as believers we should not give our best in all things that we do, that would run contrary to God’s Word. The Bible says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23.) Now- with that being said, what if we approached God’s Word with the same reckless abandon as we do for training for a marathon or a financial plan we devise in hopes of making our selves richer or any other pursuit that we are willing to go to great extremes for. Our desires will shape our priorities. Those priorities will reveal where we place God’s Word at in our life. Where God’s Word is found in such a list will be the difference in living a life completely given over to the Lord or to the world and our flesh. We ultimately decide by the choices that we make. Our Scripture admonishes us to receive and hide the Lord’s commandments within us, and to cry after knowledge, and lift up our voice for understanding. These are actions that we as believers must decide upon! Many have spent countless hours that have led to years in pursuit of that which is fleeting. Notice in our Scripture the intensity of seeking and searching after the understanding and knowledge found in the Word of God. The wonderful truth is that God is willing to give wisdom if the believer will come. What is your number one pursuit? What is at the top of your list of priorities in your life? Often time within the writings on this blog and the website I have hammered over and over again the importance of our choices and decisions and how the choices and decisions that we make will dictate the life that we will live and lead. I spent the biggest chunk of my life dead in my trespasses and sins thus I was lost and hell bound, but now I desire and I thirst most of all for that which God desires in my life. My prayer for those who read this is that your desire and intensity will match the Words in our Scripture today when it comes to your pursuit of God and His powerful, precious and enduring Word. There will be guaranteed treasure when the child of God has a white hot pursuit, determination and desire for true wisdom, knowledge and understanding that only the God of heaven can give. Thank you again for all of your prayers for the preaching and teaching today at Millgrove Bible Baptist Church! They had visitors this morning; I am sure that blessed them. The Lord met with us today! Continue to pray for Pastor Dave Vorhees as he recovers from knee surgery. Thanks for praying and thanks for visiting, Bro. Tracy “Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:5-10 On Wednesday, August 2, 2006, I was working out in the middle of nowhere. I was pressure washing a modular home. The home owner was not there. It was just me and a borrowed pressure washer that was not doing a sufficient job. I could have done a better job with squirt gun. I was having to hand wash large portions of the home. It was hot and humid and the horseflies were in bountiful supply. The longer I worked the more frustrated I got. I began to ask myself, “is God in this? Is the Lord even with me?” I said to myself, “This can’t be of God.” I felt pressed, pushed and alone. I was a fairly new Christian whose attitude was not Christ like as I made my way around that modular. I asked the Lord to forgive me for my sinful attitude. I got home and got ready for church on my way out the door I grabbed a pad of paper and stuck it in my Bible. I found my way to my seat feeling dejected and discouraged. I started pouring out my heart to the Lord on the pad of paper I had put in my Bible. When I was finished writing I looked down at my Bible and staring at me was Psalm 139. I had unknowingly placed the pad of paper at that Psalm. I was overwhelmed with the power and presence of God as I began to read those wondrous words (I challenge you to read Psalm 139). I got a Word from God that night in my pew at Lifeway Baptist Church. Glory to God. My friend, never doubt the assurance we have from God’s promises. They will delight your heart; accompany your steps and strengthen your faith. His are Words of assurance indeed. We need to be quick and ready to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many people who are lost and dead in their trespasses and sins have no hope like the hope God revealed to me in that pew from His Word. God is for us; God is with us; He will never leave nor forsake us. Remember as a born again child of the most high God you have from the Word of God a blessed assurance that is rock solid and without end. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork. Psalm 19:1 Fall is my favorite season. My wife and I have a fall get together every year. Tomorrow is the big day! We decorate with bails of straw, pumpkins and plenty of mums in a variety colors. We have a big fire and God’s creation is our back drop. My wife has been baking cookies that are in the shape of leaves and pumpkins. It would not be complete without her persimmon pudding. We have many persimmon trees and she works up the persimmons for her pudding. Our main course- Chili!! Amen and Amen!! I pray that you take some time to enjoy and take in the beauty of God’s creation during the fall season. The handywork of God reminds us of His glory and His greatness! Thanks for visiting and thanks for praying, Bro. Tracy Will you pray today for the USA? Will you take the time to come down on your knees today while lifting up your voice to the God of heaven on the behalf of this nation? Will you pray throughout the day for God to have mercy on this nation? Will you not give up and not give in? Will you call out; cry out and come down to your knees on the behalf of America? Consider the youth and the teens, and where it is they are heading, and in fact where it is they are at this very moment. Because we as a nation has turned from God, we have subsequently turned from His Word, and the young people are a product of such a turning away. The slope is slippery and the slide has been in motion year after year. Consider all of those who are now adults who are the product of silent pulpits and scheming so called men of God who have peddled, proclaimed and presented not the one true gospel, but their own brand of godless gibberish that leaves out the blood of Jesus and promotes the goodness and the works of a mere man. These have been and are nothing more than the pawns of satan leading individuals astray and allowing them to continue on their path to hell and thus leading counties, communities, cities and a nation down the ungodly path that we tread at this very hour. But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; For Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:12-15 Now is the time to dig in! Now is the time to be prayer warriors! Now is the time to bring and share the soul saving, destiny altering truth of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ! Now is the time to invest our time wisely in the very soul of this nation. Today is the day. Our hearts should be broken and our eyes should be filled with tears because of the way our nation has shut out, blasphemed and turned from the One, True Living God. We should grieve deep within for the way our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ is treated.
The devil is a liar, and is in the business of deception. He wants to take as many as he can to hell with him. The Bible say, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs14:12.) This verse tells the story of many Americans at this very moment; in small towns, rural areas and big cities. We need to: I. Nurture a burden- For the salvation of the people! II. Nurture a brokenness- For the seriousness of our sin! III. Nurture a boldness- For the sharing of the Gospel! I will be filling the pulpit at Mill Grove Bible Baptist Church this coming Sunday. Pastor Dave Vorhees will be having surgery on a bad knee. Please pray for the pastor as he recovers from his surgery. Please pray for me for the preaching as well as teaching a Sunday school class. I will be preaching the Wednesday night service as well. Thanks for visiting and thank you for your prayers. Bro. Tracy “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 Charles Spurgeon once wrote these words in reference to the word of God, “It is God’s voice, not man’s; the words are God’s: the words of the Eternal, the Invisible, the Almighty, the Jehovah of ages. The Bible is God’s Bible: and when I see it, I seem to hear a voice springing up from it, I am the book of God. Man read me. I am God’s writing. Study my page, for I was penned by God. Love me, for He is my Author, and you will see Him visible and manifest everywhere.” That is a mouth full that speaks so wonderfully in regard to the Word of God. I believe we often time need to be reminded and after we are reminded we will remember the most basic truths that we adhere to as Christians. I want to lay a solid foundation that I hope and pray many will build their lives upon. By no means is it a new foundation but one that has been used to save many souls and build many lives over the centuries. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” That’s the foundation. The word inspiration means God breathed. God the Holy Spirit did a mighty work thru God’s chosen vessels to bring God’s word to the world. Remember the source of the scriptures is God not man. Often the validity of the Bible is under attack and the source of the scriptures is doubted, but don’t let the doubts of men erode the foundation. Psalm 119:89 would be a powerful verse to place in your mind and to let fill your heart, “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” A solid foundation is only as strong as the materials that it consists of. With God’s word as your foundation, you will surely stand strong. Don't be moved by false teachers or false preaching. Please take serious the Word of God. Stand strong on that which is true. |
