A Quick Truth

"We love him, because he first loved us."

 I John 4:19


Have you ever set your mind to the thought that God first loved you?  It is not that we sent out a search party looking for God.  My friend, I pray that you never grow cold in the simple, but powerful truth that God came looking for you. Remember, "For Go so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John3:16.) God wanted you to get saved and desires that for the lost at this very moment.

 We are no different than when Adam and Eve hid themselves in the bushes from God. God sent His Son and "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8.) What a wonderful doctrine to carry with us every day.  I wasn't saved until I was thirty-six, and I was not familiar with most hymns, but there is one that is dear to my heart:

"O how I love Jesus
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus-
Because He first loved me."

Carry that thought with you today and allow it to sink in deep.
