Are you keeping watch? Are you tending to the front door as well as the back door? We would be smart to take no chances when it comes to the keeping of our hearts. The toxins of this world would like nothing better than to make their way in and wreak havoc with the innermost part of God’s children- The heart. Satan and his band desire that the redeemed in Christ would live loosely and lively in the things of this world. Not only is it the evil one we must contend with, but our own flesh wages a war against us daily.
The apostle Paul warns us, “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would” (Galatians 5:17.) We must deal with this battle within ourselves. Don’t look for it to end, but be prepared for the battle by being proactive with God as your strength and your power. God’s Word will be your weapon and your faith will be your shield. Your desire to live a Holy Spirit filled life and a life that brings glory to God will lead you to victory after victory! When we are empowered by the Holy Spirit we will not be enamored with the world.
