Titus 2:11-12
It is very important how we star each day. Our first steps will go a long way in determining what direction we will take. The Bible says in Proverbs 12:5 "The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit." Webster’s defines deceit as a catching or ensnaring, the misleading of a person: the leading of another person to believe what is false, or not to believe what is true. That is why we must follow the directions from Proverbs 4:26-27 that says, "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil." When we ponder our steps, our starting point will be a solid position based not on the counsel of the ungodly, but the word of God. You will not walk in the counsel of the ungodly when your steps are grounded in the principles of God. Our first step is vitally important. Let’s allow our verses to guide us and direct as we begin our day.
I. Attitude- We must be determined in our minds and deliberate in our hearts to deny ungodliness.
II. Appetites- We must be clear in our choices and certain in our steps to deny worldly lusts.
III. Actions- We must greet each day with a want and willingness to live soberly, righteously and godly.
