Matthew 6:26-27
Vance Havner wrote, “Worry like a rocking chair, will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.” Worry, worry, worry! Worry consumes the heart and infiltrates the mind. It steers and leads us on a road of hopelessness that when the Christian travels down its lane is saying to GOD, “You are not big enough to help and your word cannot be trusted.” In the end it gets us nowhere! Worry is a shackle and chain that does not fit the ankle, back or arms of the child of GOD.
I once read, “Worry is the advance interest you pay on troubles that seldom come.” Be honest with yourself, how many times have your worries come to fruition? What did you gain from the energy you exerted in such times? A hurting stomach and a sleepless night! The Bible says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Will you let what you just read sink in? Would you please mark it in your Bible and the next time (because there will be a next time) worry comes knocking, give it the Word of GOD! The next time the devil comes knocking (and you know that he will) give him the word of God!
